I replaced the heating eliment and also had to replace the thermostat that was bad. Worked for 1 day like it should and the next day (today) it is blowing cold air again. I checked and there is good air flow comming out of the vent so what is causing it to overheat if that is the problem. HELP wife is making me but a new dryer tomorrow if i cant get it fixed by tomorrow ASAP. Thanks

Check ALL of the thermostats, Theres NO WAY the heater only lasted 1 day, unless you messed up the install. Don't buy a new dryer until you figure out whats wrong with this one!!!! Tell Moma to calm down!!!! its only a DRYER!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Take the vent off the dryer, use a piece of cloth to get a rough idea of airflow. Then go outside and after installing the duct, try to do the same test. If reduced airflow you have a ducting problem. If ok, jam a metal thermometer in the dryer ducting and measure the temperature on the highest heat selection after temporarily shorting the failed component, probably the thermal fuse on the top section of the heater housing. Post results.

I couldnt see any airflow problem so i shorted out the wires and the temp was from 130 after the heating element kicked off and about 165 to 170 after kicking back on. It repeated a couple of time with about the same temps each time. Please advice. Thanks

Which wires did you short out? 165-170 is to hot!!!!! should be NO MORE than 150 MAX!!!! Don't let it run if its any hotter, There is a danger of fire!!!

the thermostat or fuse not sure what you call it but its about 1 foot over the heating eliment and it has a thick red and white stripe wire and a solid red wire. I stabbed the duct work about 2 feet behind the dryer exhaust. Should i have checked back farther away down the ductwork???

OK, Heres the deal!!! You NEED to replace that top therm, also, you NEED to replace the CYCLING THERMOSTAT!!! Thats the 1 that is located next to the little WHITE fuse on the duct, just above the OUTLET!!! It MAY have 4 wires going to it.(2 large 2small) This WILL resolve the trouble that you have had!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!:)

Quick question. I replaced the one that i described and it workd for 1 day. I didnt replace the one that is lower that has the 4 wires going to it. Is the bottom with the 4 wires the reason it got so hot and then fried the top after 1 day???

Yes, the four wire thermostat is the problem. You will need your model # to look it up on this site.
