The flame lights and stays lit for about 20 seconds then goes out. it seems to cool down then it happens again. could it be the flame isn't proving? (flame sensor). how do i check it?

i pulled the exhaust tube off and ran it and it does the same thing. i then jumped the high limit switch and the flame stays on. does that mean it's the high limit and not the flame sensor?
