My Whirlpool ThinTwin LT7100XVN0 will fill, then doesn't agitate (motor sounds like it's spinning), it drains, but doesn't spin. What's up?

Pull the drain hose out of the stand pipe enough to give it an air gap.

That will get the tub agitating and spinning?

It should...unless you have another problem. In order to fill, you need to have an air gap in the drain, or the water will siphon right back out. The agitagion cycle can't begin until the water level switch is satisfied, and signals the timer that it is full.

I think it is the motor coupler. Search for videos on "Whirlpool coupler repair" and you should get a few. These will most likely be for topload washers, but the repair more or less will be the same. At least this will allow you to check if the coupler is bad.

Let us know what happens.

After seeing your last post, I revisited your original post...I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING!

My response is consistent with a "...washer fills and drains at the same time..." complaint. My apologies. You're right It's either the lid switch, or the motor coupler. Look under the machine up front, in the center. If you see broken pieces of white plastic, or maybe even pulverized black rubber, it's the motor coupler.

Thanks for the info and video. I'm new to this sight and confused as to how to reply. Anyway, I will check this out later...I hope the cooupler is the problem. The twin machine is a bear to work on, or at least cumbersome. I had a heck of a time getting beyond the sheet metal...I may need a bodyshop to put it back together. I'll let you guys know as soon as I dig back into it.

thanks again.

How do you replace the motor coupler?
