My double oven is about 3 yrs old but it was never out of the box and installed until 3 weeks ago. I took the oven doors off to paint the cabinet and am having a lot of trouble getting the doors back on. I got the top back on ok but the bottom door will not go back on correctly. The hinges have to be forced back into place and once I get the retaining cover screwed down the door will not stay open. It's like the spings are so tight it won't keep it open. I can not visibly tell of any issue with them. Did I mention that while trying to get the door back in the hinges were not set correctly and the hinges popped back and contributed in breaking the outside glass. Yep, not good. While I wait for the glass to come in I am trying to fix the hinge situation. Can anyone help?

Thanks Denman. What if my hinges do not have a locking lever?

Here is another help page http://www.applianceaid.com/oven-hinges.htmlAlso check the hinge and see if there is a spot (two holes lining up) at the correct opening point where a screw driver or bolts can be inserted to hold the hinge at that position |

Let me start this reply by saying thanks. The info given to me has been really good advice. I did use 2 screwdrivers in the holes to keep the hinges in the correct place. The door went in very easy BUT, the door will not stay open once installed. It's like the springs are extra tight. Are the hinges bad? There does not seem like there is anywhere to adjust the tension. Is there?

As far as I know there is no tension adjustment.
I would uninstall reinstall the door. Perhaps you are not seated properly on the hinge pins in the receiver.
Other that that I am out of ideas other than taking the door apart and checking the hinges. |

Thanks for your help, I have taken them off and tried to check them out but can not see anything different with these and the hinges for the other door. I may change them out with new hinges and go from there.
Thanks again, I appreciate your time and effort.
