It looks like my defrost cycle has stopped working. My evaporator coils are beginning to ice over. So far, I have ran the "Defrost Thermostat & Defrost Circuit Test" (Service Test 1) and the result of the test read "S" for shorted. I next ran a Forced Defrost mode in long setting and sure enough, the coils began to defrost. I assume this means the heating element is working correctly. Looking over at the parts diagram for my refrigerator here: Evaporator/evap motor/rollers replacement parts for JENN-AIR JFC2070KRS REF - BOTTOM MOUNTS | AppliancePartsPros.comI'm guessing I either need a new thermostat (diagram 5, part #32) or else I need a new control board (diagram 3, part #5). Do I have to run additional tests with a ohmmeter in order to determine if the thermostat is indeed the problem or was the service test sufficient? Thanks!

The defrost thermostat, also called a thermal cut-off (TCO), doesn't prevent the unit from defrosting. Its function is to terminate the defrost by opening the electrical circuit to the defrost heater. It's there to prevent overheating and possible fire hazard. More likely, since you were able to force a defrost cycle, the problem is with the control board. Part number: AP4366538
