Have GE side by side fridge in my basement. Used to be my main fridge on main level but got a new fridge so put in my basement. Been there for over a year now working great. Suddenly freezer and fridge not cooling. Fan in side freezer is blowing but just air, not cold air. Pulled fridge back and took off bottom cover. Motor was covered in dust/dirt. Cleaned off. Fan on motor on back turns on but doesn't make any noise like motor itself is working but not sure if it is supposed to. I do not hear any noise coming from the condensor. It is not warm to the touch or anything and no ice build up. No sure if condensor shot or if there is something in the circuit board that is shutting it down.

Ok, actually it was the condensor that was all dirty/dusty. The compressor is what is not making any noise.

Pull the motherboard out and look on the bottom for bad solder connections, if ok, replace the motherboard AP4436216, most probable problem.

Pulled off the cover and the motherboard looks ok. Nothing looks like it has burnt out or anything. Would I see something obvious if bad soder joint? Could the motherboard still just go bad all together even though it looks ok? With the condensor not running you think the motherboard is not telling it to turn on? Condensor not bad? What do they usually cost?

If you have a meter, check for voltage to the compressor, if none, replace the motherboard.
