I just purchased the add-on ice maker kit for my Frigidaire FRT8B5EWC refrigerator. I have everything hooked up and the water is turned on, but it doesn't look like the water valve is working? I double checked that the water lines were connected correctly. I'm not hearing the valve engage. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot the valve? I poured some water into the ice tray and it ejected ice cubes this afternoon so I know that part of the kit works. I'm thinking that it may be a power issue or the coil on the solenoid valve is dead. Can anybody tell me if there should be constant voltage coming off of the plug that attaches to the valve? Any help is greatly appreciated!

The valve only has voltage to it when the icemaker is calling for water. Hook a multimeter up to the two wires to the valve and start a harvest cycle by turning the gear on the end of the icemaker. It will only take a click or two and it should take off by itself. Keep and eye on the meter to see if 120vac shows up. If it does, then the valve must be dead. If no voltage, then it's time to check the icemaker.

Thanks for the info. I popped the front cover off of the ice maker with my screwdriver and gave a good turn on the small gear counterclockwise. It cycled through and I heard the valve open, but it was real quick, not enough to fill the tray so I adjusted the water fill setting and things appear to be working. It would be nice if the manufacturer included this information in the installation instructions. Thanks for your help!
