I've seen similar problems but wanted to list my specifics. The range top works and the clock numbers are lit, but the oven doesn't work. I cannot set the clock and when I press the Bake button the red Lock light comes on. I can get the timer to work if I mess around pressing buttons enough. I suspect it needs a new control panel. Does that sound right?

Very similar symptoms with my Maytag Performa today (with Christmas dinner in the oven and company coming any minute) . I think it is a fuse within the appliance itself. The online manual from Maytag doesn't say how to access the fuse. ANy experience with that?

Try to unplug the range for a few minutes and then plug it back. If it would not help then check the door latch switches for continuity.

If there is nothing wrong then the control board has to be replaced.

2toomuch, what is the complete model number and the color of the range?

Gene.

I unplugged the stove, waited a minute and plugged it back in. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
