My Panasonic microwave is developing electrical burn marks along the bottom edge of the unit cavity where the door abuts the unit. Everything seems to work fine, but I'm worried about the fire safety and the leakage of microwaves. Any recommendations?

Is the paint damaged?

Yes, the burns are through the paint in two places about 1/4 inch long.

Try to sand them and paint using a microwave cavity paint.
