This unit had been siting for a year. When I plugged it in the Fan works, and compressor warm, but seemed to start, both freezer and refrig are not cold near the top.

If the condensing coils are not warm/hot, your compressor is not running. It should be vibrating and the small output tubing should be very hot.

The above seems to indicate that they are cold at the bottom, is this true?
You said the fan is running but which fan?
Is the evaporator/freezer fan running? It is required for efficient cooling and to circulate the air in the unit. |

Is the evaporator/freezer fan running? It is required for efficient cooling and to circulate the air in the unit. The fan motor is running - I did not check the airflow fan - however I didn't notice any cold air flowing into refrig.

The bottom of the freezer is cold and the bottom of the frig is cool.

I would not worry right now about the fresh food section. It gets all it's cooling from the freezer so ir the freezer is screwed up so will be the fresh food. |

The freezer fan is working. I will check the evap fan this afternoon.

The evap fan doesn't appear to be working. Also the compressor is warm but the coil is not cold or warm.

See the attachment for your tech sheet/wiring diagram. You should be able to feel the compressor vibrating to confirm it is running. Remove the cover in the freezer so you can inspect the coils. The compressor has to have run a couple hours. If you do it shortly after a defrost cycle there will probably be no frost. Check the frost patten on the evaporator coils. If it is fairly even then the fan may be your only problem. If there is just frost in one area usually where the freon enters the coils then you are probably low on freon. Also if there is no frost, there is a sealed system problem. Both of these will be an expensive repair as you need a pro and there is no guarantee that they will be able to fix it. Often it makes more sense to put those dollars towards a new unit. Here is a good link on basic fridge re[pair info. Check out #20.
