Isc maker will not make ice. Problem started with intermitten ice making and gradually progressed to not making ice at all. Should I just buy a complete ice maker or try to figure the exact ice maker part that is causing the problem? I am a novice.

No don't replace the icemaker until you do these checks that I will explain to you. Look at the icemaker fingers that knock the ice out, they should be looking right at you. They should be just above the horizon of the icemaker. If not replace the motor module. If all is OK there, then if you look at the black hose, that drops the water into the icemaker, squeeze the black rubber hose, if it is hard, then you need to get the blow dryer out, and defrost it, and replace the water valve, because it is leaking a little water, and is freezing the water tube. If that is fine. You need to replace the emitter kit.
