Looking at the wiring diagram that came with my microwave the part that I need is called a "bottom t.c.o."( thermal cut out) When I look at the parts list on this web site it does not list one, what it does list is either a thermostat or a thermostat thermal, I'm guessing that it is the second one but want to be sure. Any help on what the differences are between these two parts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

We had a power failure here in the central Mass. area and when the power came back on the microwave would not power up, no clock, no lights, nothing was working. I traced the problem to the T.C.O. I by passed it and everything worked fine, but I won't use it without the correct part in there for safety reasons.

You'll want the thermal one, the difference is a thermal (t.c.o) is a one shot deal, once it goes you need to replace it, a thermostat is self resetting, opens at a certain temp, and will close once it drop in temp.

Tanks for the info. I ordered the new part (from this web site of course) and will be installing it as soon as it gets here.

Found the TCO's and sure enough they are both open. Seems to me that in a power outage the fuse would open before the TCO. This is a great site!! I guess I should have dug around a little more to find the schematic and parts list....DUH.

Glad to help out if I can, on my machine there was one tco just before the fuse that was bad the other one right beside the tco was a thermostat that showed open. I only had to replace the tco though and I got my part in 4-5 days and all is well. Good luck with your repair.

There actually is a second TCO on the top of the chassis. The one on the bottom is open, the one next to it is supposed to be open and is for the vent fan. Thanks for the help chris. Did you ever check the one on top?? It is a bitch to get to and has a red lead and a black lead. I measured it at the connector and it is open.
