My dishwasher start/cancel button does not light up and will not turn on the dishwasher. All other cycle lights work.I tried resetting with breaker, but no luck. Do I need a new board and is it hard to install?

Hello tigergurle. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Then remove all the screws on the inner door panel and remove the inner door panel. Once removed, you will need to remove the cover on the control board and remove the ribbon cable from the control board. On the ribbon cable is an arrow by one of the contacts. The arrow is number 1. You will need to test across pins 10 and 6. When you push the start/cancel button, the contact should close for continuity. If it does not, you will need to replace the control panel. If the control panel needs replaced, you will remove the screws holding the control board in place. Then remove the screws holding the control panel in place. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.

I have same model and problem when tested across 6-10 with ribbon cable unhooked I get 12 ohms and nothing changes when I push the start button still get 12 ohm reading. the door switch assembly is new. I am thinking the button is bad ? Also there is no click when you push the button.

Hello ALB64. Yes, if the buttons are not working, but some of them do work, and the ribbon cable is clean, dry, and seated good, you will replace the control panel on the unit.

just put on a new contol panel(push button)$130.00. the original one apparantley went bad, only 1.5 years old, bad design, was told by parts supplier that they sell alot of these, mine was doing the same as what many have encountered, cycle buttons on the left side wouldn't light, a couple on the right would, i feel the wiring "tape" that runs to the buttons should be sealed, i wonder how long this new one will last, crappy engineering these days, what do you do?-knute

I have another thread going with denman but haven't heard back from him and am getting desperate now being without a dishwasher going more than a week and a half now. My husband tested the control panel and it all tested good so he bought the control/electronic board and it arrived yesterday and he installed it. Did the diagnostic...seemed like everything was working. But then he tried to start it normally and again nothing. All the buttons light up EXCEPT for the delay, start and cancel buttons. Since the control panel seemed to test good could it still be the control panel that we need to replace? this dishwasher is not quite 2 years old....I hate it....and am getting ready to post a nasty review everyplace I can find this model online....

Hello Mr B. Hate to tell you this, but you are going to need to order and replace the control panel to repair the unit. Once this is done, the unit should work just fine.

I ordered one last week...I hope it works when it finally arrives. I also wonder how long these replacement parts work...is this going to happen again in another 1-2 years? This is really bad....Maytag...actually Whirlpool....should be completely ashamed of themselves.
