Washer began stalling on spin cycle. Lightening the load and it would spin but eventually quit spinning. Through testing figured out if I leveled the nutator it would spin just fine. I removed the belt and pulley and nothing is broken but there is a lot of play in the what looks like a one way clutch that locks the nutator level so it can spin. Is this a bad u-joint and I'm barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks
Kim

I took the top off the washer and inner plate bearing was shot along with the nutaor and universal joint. Replaced all of these and it worked great 1 time. It stopped at 11 minuets in the Quick wash cycle. If you try to restart, it starts nutating and then cuts off. There is no water in the tub. I tried manuallly leveling the nutate plate, before that would get it to spin. This doesn't help. Any ideas? I just found out it will do an extend spin. While listening to it run it seemed to sart and stop a lot. The pump would start, stop and then come back on.

I wish I knew. The Whirlpool techs don't even know how to diagnose this model.
I suspect the control unit, but you will have to replace it to be sure. Ouch, after all you have spent. If you buy from this site, though and the part does not fix the problem you can return it, see the returns policy for details and conditions (not many).

From watching it looks like the drive motot is not reversing. The nutaor just takes off and then shuts down. You may be right about the controller. I had doubts about trying to fiix this thing.

I pulled the back of the control panel off and took all the wire connectors off and put them back on. Low and behold it started working fine again. I've either have a vbad connection or a bad board.

Well see how it goes, sometimes those connections get corroded from the moisture in the process.
