How do I remove the timer knob on an older maytag washer model number LA612?

Thank you so much. When I finally got the knob cover off someone else had glued it on, had to have been from the factory. Thank the Lord though I won the old washer is cranking again. First time I have worked on it and we bought it new in 1990 and it has gone through me and mom, 8 kids, all there friends and numerous pets.
