Check if the condenser and evaporator fans are fine.
Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check how the evaporator is covered with snow. If it's covered partially then possible the system is low on Freon.

Both fans are working. Before I replaced the heater the coils in the freezer were not all covered with ice. Only about a third of the coils had ice on them. All the ice was on the right side.

Can you check the coils again to make sure what's going on?

Bottom row of coils heavy frost on half. Top row of coils no frost.

Sounds like the system is low on Freon or the compressor has low capacity. Such repair should be done by a certified tech and could be very costly.

Thanks Gene for all the help. Sounds like it's time to help the economy and buy a new fridge. I assume the heating coil I installed is not returnable.

Try to find a model without computers. Probably Whirlpool is one of the best today. Good luck.

Hi Everyone, I have a 5 year old GE Arctica Profile ( PTS25SBMARBS), top freezer. Yesterday I noticed the fridge was very warm, I cleaned the condenser of dust, the fan appears to be working fine. I opened the back cover of the freezer, there was some ice, but not much. I cleaned everything up, plugged it back in, and everything appeared to be working fine. I could feel the cold air blowing into the fridge via the outlet on the top, and the temperature fell from 57 to 42 in a matter of about 3 hours. This morning I awoke to the fridge at 57 degrees again. I ran diagnostics and it says the thermistor for the freezer and evaporator are faulting. I replaced the main circuit board on the back. Re-ran diagnostics and got the same result. Now, the evaporator fan isn't working, though it will come on for a few seconds if I run a diagnostic test on it. I ran a diagnostic on the defroster, which appears to be working fine (there was no ice on it this morning). So at this point I'm stuck, the freezer is cold, the fridge is warm, and the evaporator fan isn't running. Could the fan motor still be bad even though it works in diagnostic mode? I'm inclined to think the fridge temperature sensor is messed up, is that something I can replace myself? What else should I consider? Thanks in advance!

Most likely the evaporator fan motor is bad. Hopefully it did not damaged the new main control board. The new fan motor comes together with the thermistor so you can replace them both. - The part number for the evaporator fan motor with the thermistor is AP3191003
