My washer fills but will not go to the next cycle. If I hold a screwdriver in the door switch it will operate. I was going to check the switch, but cannot figure out how to get the top open. Also I can put something heavy on the top and it will work. Will someone please help a old man out. How do I get into this thing? Thanks, Doug:confused:

Hi, To replace the lid switch you will need to remove the washer cabinet. The top, front and sides all come off as one. What happens with the lid switchs is the plastic part of the switch that the screws run into crack. This lets the switch drop down a little to far so when the lid is closed it does not trip the switch. You will need to remove the cabinet and replace the lid switch. This video will show you how to remove the cabinet. Video: How to Remove Direct Drive Washer Cabinet

Click the play button on the bottom left after it loads. If you have a slow dial up connection it may take some time to load.
