safety magnetI have a general question. Can anyone explain what a safety magnet is in a gas valve and how it works? I'm having trouble typing in this box there is no curser and cannot erase the first 2 words. Never had this problem on a forum before.

Strobe,

You're basically describing a gas valve solenoid / coil.
When voltage is applied to the valve coil, it becomes magnetized, and lifts the plunger, the coil it encases, and allows the gas to flow through the valve and ignite.
All coils/solenoids work on the same principle, electricity flowing through a coil of wires create an electro magnet, which works like a "gate" and it opens as long as the electricity is flowing.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
