I have a General Electric dryer that is not running. The timer seems to be working fine, but when you push the start button all we get is a humming sound. Since I can hear a humming sound I assume the starter switch is fine and am leaning towards the motor.

I didn't have my meter with me, but will take it home with me tonight just thought I would check with the experts and see if there were any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Travis,

You are on the right track. There is a simple test for the motor. Open the door and tape in the door switch. Push the start button and at the same time turn the drum manually. If the motor will start, no doubt it is the culprit.
