Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 4/12/2011(UTC) Posts: 3		I have a General Electric dryer that is not running. The timer seems to be working fine, but when you push the start button all we get is a humming sound. Since I can hear a humming sound I assume the starter switch is fine and am leaning towards the motor. I didn't have my meter with me, but will take it home with me tonight just thought I would check with the experts and see if there were any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Travis, You are on the right track. There is a simple test for the motor. Open the door and tape in the door switch. Push the start button and at the same time turn the drum manually.
