Gene. Do I check with fridge on or off. MY BAD, I just reread page #3 - and it reads "UNPLUG FRIDGE".As far as the parts that you suggest to also replace if mother board is bad, are they easy to replace? Were talking a novice here. Brian

Gene, The impedance between the orange pin at J7 and the Blue wire from J9 is 3.386 k ohms. What next? Thanks

Brian,
Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check the defrost heater and thermostat for continuity. The defrost thermostat must be really cold at that time.

Took apart defrost Heater and checked. The circuit is open. So I guess I need to order a new defrost heater.

THANKS Gene,
Replaced the heater today. I will check in three days to see if frost builds up but I doubt it.
I did not install the mother board and I can not send it back either.
Ow well, I can keep it on hand just in case or try to sell and get some $$$$.

Hi gene, first off an amazing amount of info on this subject and thanks for that.
I have a Magic Chef MN rc20ln-2a and have the frost build up on the back of the freezer. My problem is I cannot locate anything that looks like the defrost timer and am a bit stumped.
Any ideas?
I might add that there are two coils one on top of the other, starting at the bottom and going up. Right above these coils is a black round thing with two wires coming off it going to a board of some sort. Now I dont think that is the timer as i see no where that you could turn it with a screwdriver. Everything else is at the top behind the fan assembly.
I really am a bit mystified.
Edit 2! OK I did some looking around and the only component visible that I described above id a thermostat....so I am guess everything is behind the fan assembly at the top?
