Hello,
I have a GE PSS26LRESS, In the last couple of weeks I find a lot frozen water all over my food in the freezer. I see a frozen drop on the bottom of the icemaker tray. It is making ice.

The other problem I have is that the refrigerator is freezing my vegetables (the bottom 3 drawers). I removed the rear panel inside the freezer and the coils were pretty much frozen over.

I would appreciate your sugestions.

Remove the damper assembly (#460 on the diagram) and check the air gate inside.

Pour some water into the ice maker and check if the ice maker is leaking.

If it's not locate the water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. Disconnect the wires from the brown solenoid and watch a frozen water in the freezer for a day or two.

Post the results.

Thanks Gene, I am sorry I didnt reply sooner. I will study the diagram and follow your suggestions. I turned off the ice maker and I have no leak on to my food. Does that tell you anything?

Also what about the food in the refrigerator side? The bottom 2 drawers are freezing my vegetables. I removed the panel in the freezer and the coils were full of snow(not frozen, but covered with snow, maybe it is the samething).

Hi Gene,

How do I remove the gate assembly cover (number 207)? seems like it is attached by a screw but I dont see it on the back of the fridge, should I just pull it out towards me?

Hi Gene,

I removed the damper, and I cant tell whether it is open or closed. Please see picture.

I also added water to the icemaker and it did not leak. I dont see the brown solenoid? Can you point it out in the attached 2nd picture?

You have to take the damper assembly apart to check if the air gate is not broken.

The "brown" solenoid is one on the left side.

Hello Gene,

I took the damper assembly apart, and the air gate was stuck open, but not broken. I then plugged the fridge and the gate opened. I then unplugged it and it stayed open? not sure if it was supposed to close.

I also removed the freezer cover to expose the coils and they had frost on them again. All day today the freezer was warm and the the frozen food was thawing. I took a picture of it and one of the heater under the coils. Not sure if you can tell but both ends of the glass are a little burnt.

Please advise
