I have recently recieved a used dryer in fairly good visible condition. I put a first load of laundry through in auto mode and it worked as expected. Later I put another load through in similar fashion on the auto cotton high heat mode and it failed to shut off after 10 hours, or even progress the dial on the control knob, however the laundry was dry and it was still producing heat.It still works fine on the manual timed drying mode. Does anyone have a suggestion to help find the faulty component on my dryer? Thanks!

If it worked in the first auto cycle, and the not on the high heat auto cycle, it sounds like a timer issue. The timer is not cheap. You might want to just work your laundry around it. Or, if cash is not an issue, then I would think the timer is the problem. Tom

I found a new timer at a good price and hoped it would fix the problem of the timer not progressing in auto dry mode. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks, John

Well, I am surprised. At this part of the game it could be the thermostats. But, the first thing I would do is make sure that the vent is clear to the outside. If the heat is not escaping the thermostat will never be satisfied, and never advance. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
