Legacy Series, Heavy Duty Commercial Quality/Oversize Capacity Plus/Lifetime Tub/Quiet Pack/ 2 speed/ 11 cycle.

During the spin cycle, It makes an annoyingly loud grinding noise...if you stop the cycle an start it again 70% of the time it goes away, and 50% of the time it returns. Re-distributing clothes for proper balance doesnt seem to help. So this tells me that the balance isnt the problem.

Besides this everything works....

Im assuming that the center auger is an agitator? this seems to have some play in it when I wiggled it. Im not sure if this play is bad or if it was purposely made that way. I havnt taken the machine apart yet as I have no clue what im looking for. please help! Greatly appreciated!

Does the grinding noise immediately stop or slowly wind down?

well, I wouldnt say it "slowly" winds down. It does wind down but its pretty quick, not really a stop all together, but in between the two options, THANK YOU!

If you can try to manually turn the tub by hand and listen for any grinding/rubbing noise.

Ok, I manually turned the tub, and there is no grinding, no real rubbing except for what i feel is the sound of the tub in motion. Ive got a load in it at the moment and there was water in it at that time. let me know if this needs to be done when its empty.

It gives a better idea of the type of sound and possible location if the tub is empty.
