After the call for heat, The ignitor glows, burners ignite. After 1-5 minutes of running (without reaching the desired thermostat temperature) the burner shutoff, the blower keeps running, and cold air comes out of the ducts. Could this be a bad ignitor? Or something else? Thanks:mad:

Shut off the power to furnace, remove the flame sensor and use steel wool to clean the sensor. Power the furnace, call for heat...this should do it.

Of course you'll need to make sure your filter is clean and changed every 30 days. If you take the blower door off, and hold the door switch closed, the computer board should show you a code (blinks of an indicater light)...on the inside of the blower door you ought to be able to read what that code means.

don NOT clean igniter it is brittle and it ill BREAK, THE PRBLEM IS THAT YOUR FURNACE IS HITTING ITS "HIGH LIMIT", MEANING THAT THE HEAT EXCHANGER IS GETTING TO HOT, SO A SASFETY CONTROL IS SHUTTING THE BURNER DOWN UNTIL IT COOLS DOWN, INSTALL A NEW FILTER, CHECK TO SEE IF FINS ON BLOWER ARE CLEAn, oil blower motor ( if it has ports to do so)

If you actually READ what was said, (clean the FLAME SENSOR) will solve the problem. And by all means do not touch the HS igniter, it is brittle and oil from your fingers or hands will cause it to burn out.

This may be an air flow problem. The simplest thing is the filter needs changed. Other things are...fan switch, blower motor and/or dirty squirrel cage, plugged A-Coil. Check the air flow out of a register...see if the furnace stays running if you switch the thermostat setting from "auto" to "ON"...if so it is a fan switch.

The fan switch on the newer type furnaces is a part of the computer board. A better description of the problem would be helpful...

I DID read what was said , and your are barking up the wrong tree, the igniter lights the burner and then senses flame to see if it is actually lit, obviously it lights and STAYS lit long enough to trip the high limit, the high limit is not part of the control board

YOU my friend are completely WRONG...the flame sensor is a completely different part from the HSI. I also did NOT say the high limit was a part of the board, the FAN SWITCH is...further your education before you comment, PLEASE.

you are right about the flame sensor, I was thinking of a Miller, as far as it being part of the board, somebody else was talking about that, but you still are incorrect about the flame sensor being the problem.if the burner was dropping out after 4-5 seconds, then I would agree with you , however it is running 1-5 minutes, that tells me maybey uneven gas flow, or still bad air flow
