I have a Thermador Universal Cook N Vent Downdraft model # CVS36R. The vent fan works great, the unit goes up and down, however the unit will not stop automatically in the up or down position. I have to push the button once to raise, once to stop, once to lower and once to stop. Works but aggravating.

On the exploded view I see, micro switches, part number 46, but can't find them on the unit.
????

I believe the problems started when I removed the vent to replace the granite countertops. I can't remember exactly when the problem started.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Bill,

The problem can be a bad switch or dislodged gear motor arm. Possible you will need to remove the vent from the cabinet again for repair. The service manual is attached to the reply.

UPDATE!

The gear motor arm was backed off a little not allowing the cam to make the switch. Thanks! I will continue to order all of my appliance parts needs from this site.

I did have to remove the cooktop and vent to repair but all went well.

Thanks again!

Bill

My wife tried to lower it and it caught on something that was sitting on the countertop that prevented it from lowering all the way. It came back up but now won't budge. Motor hums but the unit won't move up or down.

Guessing I need to take it apart and have a look-see?
