I get a F4 error code on this stove. The top burners work, but the oven does not. What should I check or replace?

Boston, In most cases and in most older ranges, an F4 error code usually indicates a bad oven temperature sensor and or a bad ERC(clock/control). We'd be better able to assist you with a proper model number. Good Luck, :) :) :)

I looked all over for the model # and I cant find one. I did see where the appliance was produced in Mexico in 1997 though. It is in a rental and I going on the information given to me by the renter. I did try the oven and it was heating up so maybe after it is on for a while it gets the F4 error message. Any thoughts on what causes that?

Any thoughts on what causes that? On that vintage a unit, an F4 code usually indicates a bad sensor or loose connection in the temp. sensor harness, or a bad ERC/Clock. Based on the statement, that it heats for a while, I can only guess you have a loose connection in the harness,that may be expanding and loosing contact when the heat gets to the connector and so forth. You may want to inspect the connector, if it's discolored or shows signs of arcing inside the connector, you can cut the connector out and hard wire the leads with high temperature, porcelain, wire nuts. and see what effect that has on the F4 code. :) :) :)
