:( Kenmore 90 series makes a loud metal thumping noise in the spin cycle both with and without clothes so it cannot be a load unbalance problem. My area just went through four days of severe cold weather (chill factor of 22 below 0) and my washer froze. First I had no water going into washer, thawed it out, then washer did not agitate, thawed it and now it agitates. Washer did not drain but now drains. However, the washer now makes the loud metal thumping sound in the spin cycle. Washer should not still have any frozen parts. Pump and coupler were replaced 1 month ago, however, I did check the pump and there are no obstructions. Does anyone know what damage the cold weather may have done that would account for the loud metal thumping sound during the spin cycle?

As of yet I have not checked the basket for ice, comb filter for breaks or loose drive block but when I remove the pump, drop the motor, and turn the tranny coupler clockwise until the basket starts to turn I'm not really sure what to look for.

Would I be correct in saying that if the basket moves without seizing, then I should check for the ice, the busted comb filter and loose drive block but it it sizes then it would be the tranny needs to be replaced?:cool:

Best to pull the tranny out all the way to check it and the basket. Leaning towards a busted nylon gear and something in the tub.
