I have a Kenmore microwave spacesaver. Model# JVM1642BB002. The inside and surface lights work, and the fan works. When I push start, nothing happens. I do not have much electronic experience nor the tools to check any circuits. Could this be an easy fix, or should I replace the unit.

The model number posted is a GE MW. Is that the number off of the MW itself? Nat

Sorry about that. It is a GE. My brother just stopped by, and gave the microwave a "technical knock" and it now powers on. Now a new problem has surfaced... It will not heat anything up.

That is probably either the magnitron or the transformer. Of course it could be a loose connection or broken wire. Nat

If it is the magnitron or the transformer I'd say no. But if it's a loose or broken wire then yes. If in doubt call a service company in your area, ask them how much a diagnosis or in shop fee is have it looked at. If it's just a wire then it's worth it. if not you can have them remove it or leave it with them, which ever is the cheapest(in home vs. in shop) Natalie

Thanks Nat. I called GE and they informed me that if it was the magnitron or transformer, it is still under warrenty. I would just have to pay for labor. Thanks for your help.
