My fidge is freezing food on fridge side. Prior to freezing the fan on bottom was making griding noise and now it does not spin any more. Could the fan not be cooling anymore causing my fridge to freeze everthing. What part or parts do i need to fix.

denman, thanks for the response. It is not the fan in the freezer it is working fine, it seems to be on alot or all the time(freezer is very cold). The fan i was referencing is the one on the bottom (section 9 item 24) condensor fan. I have the controls set to lowest setting for the freezer and fridge but still freezing in fridge. Could this condensor fan be the reason the freezer is venting so much cold air to fridge side? And controls not working?

I would check the temperature in the freezer.
It should be 0 to 5 degrees F.
If it is lower then probably your thermostat (Item 9 in Section 11) is shot.
Also could be that the fresh food control is not closing the louvers in the damper (Item 24 in Section 2) which regulates the amount of cold air that enters the fresh food side.
Also make sure that the lower vent between the sections are clear of food items etc..

I doubt it but it will make your compressor run much more as the heat is not being dissipated from the condenser coils very efficiently.
I would replace it ASAP as it is also hard on your compressor since the compressor will run hotter. |

what controls how the louvers close in the damper? Is this an electric part or manual?
