Back from a trip and found my Kenmore refrigerator flashing a -1 37 0 on the digital display, the lights work, but all the food has thawed/spoiled. A red light on the icemaker switch is flashing red when powered on and icemaker switched on (normal position for me). Unplugged frig for an hour and then plugged back in still nothing. There are no noises or sounds when it is plugged in.

Also, there was no water on floor when I returned (and no signs of a puddle that dried up). What does a -1 37 0 mean? I tried to turn on using Off/On button holding down for a minute or more and tried to change the values on the display but they go right back to -1 37 0 after I release buttons.

My Model number is 106.53602202 (which I entered when I created the post) Is that not visible to all?

Found a problem, hopefully the root cause. On the circuit board inside the control panel found a burnt resistor and the circuit board is blackened. Now to find a replacement circuit board.

New micro-computer has arrived, been installed with all components, panels, covers, plugs, etc. reinstalled, connected etc. Refrigerator runs fine for cooling. Once reaching actual cooling temperature (confirmed by thermometer placed inside), keeps running. Now looking for why it will not stop running.

I'm going through a very similar problem with a very similar fridge...uses the same control board. If you only replaced the control board you have only cured the symptom, not the root-cause. It will probably be a pretty short period of time before you burn another control board. Something else is wrong that caused the burned resistor.

That board is too expensive to go through them like chewing gum.

FYI, I burned the adjacent resistor and am trying to identify the root cause now.

Good luck.

I found the "Service and Wiring Sheet" folded up nice and neat inserted in a slot on backside of grill below the doors. (Go figure! Anyway, I removed the grill to inspect the heat exhaust coils. They were heavily coated with dust. They are clean now.)

Attached is both sides of the sheet for reference. I put my refrigerator in diagnostic mode and it never left step 1 (frig =0, freeze=1 and water filter =1)
Step 1 diag test is is labeled FC Thermistor. So I am going to replace that part next. :)

Results after part is ordered, received and installed.

I installed the new thermistor about 1 week ago. Temperature swings are much narrower than before +- 2 degrees in refrigerator, +- 4 degrees in freezer. (I have a wireless weather station with two remote units, 1 remote in freezer section and 1 remote in refrigerator section). Refrigerator cycles on/off regularly with a moderate amount of time (15-20 minutes) between cooling periods. The ice maker is working well. Electric bill has dropped significantly but do not know how much is due to the refrigerator not running for long periods of time.

Still have the red light in the freezer (next to the ice maker ON/OFF switch still blinking. So the investigation continues....
