bill k: I have a 5-1/2 yr. old Maytag refrigerator/ model # mtb2656geq which isn't cooling or freezing properly. I had a repair man come out and he said it was the compressor causing it. However the compressor is running. I changed the fan motor and the defrost timer but nothing changed. The fan in the freezer doesn't come onn at all. I checked the defrost heater for continuity (it has it).I checked the defrost thermostat - it shows some continuity even though it has been thawing for some minutes. The evaporator frosts overwhen the refrigerator has run for some time. Is there anything you can tell me. Would the compressor need to be replaced even if it still runs?

A normal freezer has cold air blowing very strong when it is working. Does your blow air that is not cold? My refrigerator does not blow air any more. It was making louder than normal sound. I reset the refrigerator and it worked for a few more days. Then the freezer stopped blowing air (but you can feel it is cold). I think is the fan motor. I am not sure what is the fan motor called. I have a Westinghouse Model MRT18GREW1. I looked online and not sure which is the fan. The Evaporator fan (part AP2134901 by Frigidaire) or Cover - Fan (Part AP2114902)?

Thanks for your help.

The cover is just that, a cover that covers the fan. The fan part# you need is.....AP2134901

Model MRT18GREW1

I don't know where is the evaporator fan for the freeezer section. Is it located inside the freezer, inside the refrigerator, or outside?
Thank you for your help.

it is in the freezer, behind the fan cover you mentioned earlier, at the back wall.
