Fridge is set at 37 degrees and will run in the high 20s to low 30s. This morning the temp was 32 set at 37 and the damper was blowing cold air in...last night the temp was 37 set at 37 and the damper was closed...seems to be an intermitent problem.
Do the dampers have those problems or do they usually just get stuck open when they fail? Any other ideas as to what may be causing this to happen?

Thanks for your help. RJP, What about the freezer compartment, does it maintain the set temperature ? Are you sure you're not blocking the refrigerator thermistor(s) with an article ?(the oval shaped grille(s) on the wall of the compartment. As for damper door failures, it's basically 50/50 they stick open or closed. Tru this first, make sure there's nothing blocking the damper assembly air flow, make sure there's nothing blocking the thermistor grilles, let the unit operate 12 hours with the doors closed, and recheck the temperatures. Then let us know what you find, and we can go from there. :) :) :)

Thermistor is not blocked...the fridge is pretty full though but nothing with in 6" of it. Right now the fridge is 32 set at 37 with no air being blown in. The freezer is at -1 set at 0

Thanks again. RJP, OK, Your freezer temperature is within tolerances (+/- 2 dgrs) The fresh food is not that far out, but it is out of tolerance. I don't know where you want to start. You could try resetting the temperature warmer for the refrigerator and re check the temperature in 12 hours ? For the most part if the damper will open and close it is ok. Typically if it is stuck it will stay suck but anything can happen. I would say you have a thermistor or main board problem. If you take the damper out so that you can see observe it. Open the door of the refrigerator and after three minutes the damper should close then press the door switch and it should open continue to do this until you are satisfied that the damper is working correctly.
