The right front burner (12") of our LG range (electric, ceramic cooktop) won't turn off. The display says "HS", which is what it's supposed to say when the burner is off and cooling down after use, but the unit stays on. I killed the circuit and turned it back on and the burner heated back up again. What little I've read suggests it's a faulty burner switch. If that's correct, anyone know if the switch is behind the button on the control panel or down by the burner under the glass? Thanks for any information.

The exact same thing happened to us last night, Oct. 19. The large front burner would not turn off, was full hot, yet the indicator said HS. It got hot enough we feared cereal boxes on the next shelf would burn if left alone. We didn't know about the part you disconnected, so we just unplugged the range.
We bought it in Jan 2008 with extended warranty to 2013. This is the second time we've had to have work done on the burners. The first time the smaller front burner would not get hot. I'm not suit-happy, have never done it, but this makes me wonder if there is a class action lawsuit I can join. This really ticked me off.

Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.

If you just got this oven and you're getting the HS signal, most likely your oven is OK, it will turn off after a while--it's just telling you that spot you just used is still warm (hot spot).

I have an LG smart stove , gas range last night the front left burner wes off but there was a glow under the hood I went to grab the knob and it was melted burned my fingers good, the whole front of the stove hood was extremely hot to the touch , could melt a spatula when touching it . Has to shut off our gas to the stove to get it to go out ,
We have had the stove for 2 or 3 years,. Also looked like red wires burning under the hood
