I have a Maytag Wall mount oven (27") Model MEW5527. The upper broiler element does not work. I purchased a new element and that did not cure the problem. The element resistance is 15.6 ohms. The voltage across the two wires is 45.6 volts. Can the problem be the control panel? Thanks, Karl

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MEW5527 models | AppliancePartsPros.comYour model number is missing a few digits at the end of it. This is important because the wiring within this series varies. Some units have a high limit switch for the convection and broil elements on one side. So if both of them do not work that is probably your problem. Yes it could be the control board. |

The entire model number is: MEW5527DDW Thanks
What would cause only having 45.6 volts on the broiler element? The Bake element works just fine. Thanks, Karl

Here are your parts includes a wiring diagram. Wiring information replacement parts for MAYTAG MEW5527DDW Walloven - S/c Ele | AppliancePartsPros.comIf the convection element also does not work odds are high the the Double Hi Limit Switch is the culprit. If convection is OK then it may be a bad wire/connection or the control board is shot. The low voltage could be a set of relay contacts is dropping voltage across them due to pitting etc. Could also just be ghost voltage (one wire inducing a voltage onto another wire) |
