We've had this freezer in less than a week and just noticed last night that the top two thirds were not cooling, while the bottom drawer was fine. The attached picture shows what the coil at the bottom looks like. While I defrost the freezer to see what's going on under all the ice, can you diagnose the problem? Is this something that we could fix ourselves? Thanks so much for your help! kmwoodson attached the following image(s):

It looks like you have a freon leak and are low on freon.
Unfortunately this is not something you can fix yourself.
You did not say if it was a new or used unit. If new get it repaired under warranty.
If used then it is probably best to replace the unit due to the cost of the repair. There is no use refilling the freon unless you can find the leak which can be difficult also a pro is required to recharge the system. |

I see. The unit is brand new--we'll see what is covered under the warranty. Thank you so much for your help!
