My neighbor has a problem. Says her microwave "smells like burning plastic and does not heat." She had a Kitchen aid repair person come out and said that it was a transformer and would cost approx. $1200. I found out that there are two transformers and I don't know which one it might be. Also how do you access the transformer area easily? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

There appears to be more than one transformer so I don't know which one it might be. I also don't know the easiest way to access the transformer. Any help will be appreciated.

You should be fine with the repair. If you need more assistance please contact us. :) :) :)

Jon, Sounds like the problem is a shorted high voltage transformer (#34 on the diagram). $1200 for such repair is unbelievable. You can find all instructions in the Service manual. - The high voltage transformer Part number: AP2929274
