I removed the foam nozzle #426 from the wall #428 with no obstruction. Correct me if i'm wrong but if warmer freezer (sliding 428 to the left damper wide open) equals colder fridge what does #424 have to do with the fridge temp. It seems odd that this just failed with no movement of the damper.

If tha freezer temp control is set too high, can that cause the refregerator compartment to be too warm? What is the ideal setting for the freezer and the refer compartments for a Magic Chef model RB193PA?

jszczypien,

The temperature control (#424) does not operate with the damper control. It controls the temperature and operates with the compressor and fans. The damper control operates manually (the left knob on the control panel).

Did you check the duct air return yet?

Gene.

Hi Pat,

Can you be more specific on the problem? What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Yeah, i checked it back on 7/4 it had some ice in it and removed it but the fridge still never got below 60. Last night, after removing/re-installing and inspecting the foam duct i moved the damper control to "Freezer Warmer" all the way to the left equalling fully open damper and it is colder this morning but i'm curious on how long this will last....

Do not play with these two knobs. Keep the temperatures under control, using a good mercury thermometers. Wait about 24 hours after any adjustment to see the result.

Gene, I have a Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator, model 596.72214200 that has a cold freezer/warm refridgerator and there is frost on the back panel of the freezer. I'm going to tear into it to see if I can diagnose the problem but would really like a break down diagram for reference and can't seem to find one when I do the model number search. Is there one somewhere you can direct me to? Thanks for all the great advice on this forum.

drydocked,

The defrost timer is located above the light module in the fresh food compartment.

The defrost heater is #15 on the break down diagram and the defrost thermostat is not illustrated.

- The part number for the defrost timer is AP3492964

- The part number for the defrost heater is AP3502547

- The part number for the defrost thermostat is AP3475238

Our refrigerator, Amana ASD262RHRW, was working fine until something blocked the freezer door open and it froze up completely. The evaporator was frozen solid and even the damper had ice in it. I defrosted it a little and some ice fell in from the freezer side into the damper area. Since it was defroster it worked for about one week then was frozen solid again. This time I defrosted it completely and a week later it was frozen again. I checked the resistance of the defrost heater and it was about 30 ohms so I replaced the defrost time. The compressor and the evaporator fan cycle off and on but the defrost heater does not kick in. Is there any chance that the defrost thermostat is not working (is stuck open)? I thought it the defrost thermostat was open it would never cool down and it does that great until it freezes up and I have to defrost it. Could the ice that fell in the damper between the compartments have damaged the main circuit board, I have no idea where it is located? Thanks in advance.
