I am getting a 3E code during the spin cycle. I checked all wire connections, ran a Quick Spin Test, washer will get up to about 150 then 3E. I am getting less than 3 ohms from the 1,2,& 3 pins at the motor, but using a little analog meter. I don't want to chase this problem or throw parts at it. My question, should I replace the control board or the motor?

Check for the same resistance readings at the CN9 connector(large red, white and blue wires). That will tell you that both the wiring and the motor windings are proper,and you will need to replace the main control board,or you have a loose connection or damaged wire in the harness to the motor. :)

Joe, I was able to get a good meter, retested the resistance at the motor and at CN9. At pin 1 and 2 (Blue and White) reads 1.4ohms. At pin 1 and 3 (Blue and Red) reads 2.4ohms, and at 2 and 3 (White and Red) reads 2.4ohms. I get the same readings at CN9. What do you think now? The resistance is the same at the motor and the board but they are lower than posted in the Tech Manual which should be 3ohms. I don't want to replace the board at $250 and find out that it is the motor and have to spend another $250.

All your tests show resistances within the allowable tolerances(+/- 10%) except the 1.4 ohms.(I'm still not too worried though). I need to get another resistance reading check for you, and will need to wait until the tech team gets back to me.(later today/ tomorrow). I'll be more comfortable after the next test. Get back to you as soon as I can.:cool: :cool: :cool: Sorry for the delay, I want you to check the motor (hall) sensor circuits at the CN8 connector at the main control board(Has a blue#3, orange#4, and pink#1 wires). Across the Blue and Pink wires in the connector you should read 4.7 ohms resistance(+/- 10%). From the Orange#4 wire to Blue#3 and Orange#4 to Pink#1 wires, you should read infinte resistance. With the tests you made previously, and this test(CN8) : If you have the proper resistance readings(CN8) , Replace the control board. If you do not have the proper resistance readings(CN8) , replace the motor. That ought to get you properly diagnosed and repaired. GOOD LUCK. :) :) :) :)

Ok, I tested at the CN8 connector. Blue#3 and Pink#1 reads 4.7k ohms.
Orange#4 and Pink#1 reads 20.59M ohms, Orange#4 and Blue#3 reads 20.59M ohms. So...not sure if those are the proper readings, but I did some more testing. I ran the Quick Spin test, on about the 4th step/cycle I pressed the Rotary Selector to hold the spin at about 165. I let it run for about a minute or less. I could smell something getting hot and noticed what appeared to be smoke coming from the motor. The motor was very hot to touch. I know someone that has the same model washer and will borrow the control board for a test. Will let you know the results.

You are correct sir....it was the motor. Sorry it took so long to post this, but the first motor I got was broken out of the box. One of the mounts on the housing and the wire connector was broke, probably during shipping. I called it in and a new one was sent Friday and received today. I tested before mounting and got 2.4 and 2.5 ohms across pins 1,2,& 3. I installed, tested at CN8, got the same readings, ran the Quick Spin test, cranked up like it was supposed to, display was reading 1073. After the QS test, I ran a Quick Service test...everything passed. Just FYI to all the readers, I re-leveled the machine before starting it up...never hurts to check the small things. Thanks for your help.
