The shaft seal where the drive shaft goes thought the bottom of the tub leaks when the washer is running. I was wondering how big of a job this is. I am very handy and have done lots of washer repairs over the years but I have never taken one this far. Looking for a little advise before I buy the part.:eek:

GregO:cool: Sure, You can do it, You'll need a special tool, and hammer, but it is pretty clear cut. you've most likely have a leaking tub seal, tub bearing assembly. Here's a sight that will break everything down for you,(even part numbers). It will really be an asset for you, to have. Good Luck, :) :) :) Maytag Tub Seal Replacement

I have done a few of these. Only comments are, I used a steel punch to punch up and out the old sleeve bearing, there are half round slots in the tranny shaft to facilitate this. Also, I use non-detergent, 10 weight oil on the sleeve bearing before installing. This is about a two hour job.
