Recently my dryer quit shutting off. It starts and dries normally, but will not shut off on its own. It does this on both the AccuDry and Timed Dry modes. Changing temp setting yields the same result. Everything works normally except not shutting off on its own in either setting. What part should I replace? I should add that the timer control knob does not move in either setting.

Jason Jason, How do you turn the machine off ? Does it advance through the cycle and does not shut off ? Does it advance through the off position on the dial ? This particular style dryer, on timed dry will advance and shut off, unless there is a bad contact in the timer or a stuck switch on the motor. Do you hear the end of cycle buzzer ? My first guess would be a timer, but your answers will help me to better diagnose the possible part needed. Talk to you soon.:)

We have to turn it off manually by turning the timer dial to off from either accu dry mode or timed dry. The dial does not advance through the cycle at all in either mode. It does not advance through the off position, and no buzzer. We have been setting a timer to allert us after about an hour and then going to shut it off. It will also turn off if you open the door, then can be restarted simply by pushing start again as the dial does not move on its own.

You're going to need a new timer, (see attached/click on part number) Part number: AP3131541
That will get you back up and running :)

I put a new timer on it and it still does the same thing! I am now going to try a third timer at the request of my parts supplier and won't cost anything because he believes we got another bad timer just like my original one is.Jimmyds.

I've never seen a new timer that didn't work. I'm not saying its impossible, but in twenty years of replacing timers they have always worked. Post your model number so we can look up your wiring diagram. I always start by checking for 120 volts at the two wires going into the timer motor. If you have 120 volts to it, then the motor is bad and you need a new timer. If the voltage is low or missing, we need to find out where it went.

:confused: I am on my third timer and still the dryer won't stop. I checked the resister on the thermal switch(the one with 4 wires connected to it)The resistence is supose to be between 5400-8600 ohms. It's 7000 .What else could cause the timer to not work and keep the dryer running non stop all day?Jimmyds.:o

It's 7000 .What else could cause the timer to not work and keep the dryer running non stop all day?Jimmyds.:o Jimmy, The coomponent you are checking is the mini heater in the cycling thermostat, that heater is activated and controls your LOW temperature setting(the heater causes the thermostat to cycle early for a lower temperature), It has nothing to do with the timer advancing. If you put the dryer in a timed dry setting and start it, you should be able to read 120 vac from each timer motor terminal to chassis ground. If you have no voltage you will need to look for a broken blue wire, a broken tan wire or a bad door switch(doubtful). I've included the wiring diagram for you, At the top of the page (legend) set the timer in each selection and check for closed circuits (the striped boxes) between the 2 terminals listed in the top of the legend box. At the bottom of the page the drawings indicate wire color and terminal location on several components, Check and make sure you have the correct wire colors on the proper terminals at the timer. Should you find an improper timer contact circuit, open motor circuit or a problem with the timer, please inform us, we can notify the manufacturer of a problem with the part and they can research it. http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%208578889.pdf:) :) :)
