Hi Tom,
If you can post pictures of the old and new clocks and all available diagrams and instructions, it might help for more accurate advise.
Gene.

Yes, please post pics, especially the instructions. I have replaced a number of these clocks, and when I had problems, it was a simple wire misplacement.

Here are the pictures: The current mechanical timer, the new digital timer, and the instructions. I believe the current connection has the pink and red wires on terminal 1(L1), the white wires on terminal 5 (N), and the orange wire on terminal 2 (Output 1). According to the instructions, these would connect on the new timer to terminals 1, 5, and 2 (respectively). My assuption is that L2 and Output 2 would be used for the second oven, if I had one. Does that make sense? Thanks for your help. Tom soundlab1407 attached the following image(s):

Thanks for the consult Gene! The new timer works fine.
It will be very nice to have the self-clean function back.
Tom :)

Just the single oven for me. That's what had me confused about the unused terminals. It all makes sense now.
And the clock works! Much nicer than the electrical tape over the frozen time.
Thanks again, Tom :D

I'm Deborah and I'm new here. I found this site while searching to see if a replacement timer-clock is available for my GE self-cleaning double oven JKP36 which was put in my home in 1979. The ovens work perfectly, the self-cleaning works perfectly....I need the clock & timer to work.
After reading the posts here, I'm a little confused. Has a replacement clock-timer model number been established that will correct the clock-timer not working and both ovens will still self-clean? I'd love to have this repaired! Thanks! Deborah

Hi Deborah,
Can you describe more specifically how did you set the self clean cycle and what did you see on the oven clock during this cycle?
What did you mean when you said: "I need the clock & timer to work"?
Gene.

Thanks so much for your reply!
The timer & clock that do not work at all are the timer that I'd use to time food when it was baking and the clock being the regular mechanical clock on the oven unit located beside the timer.
Because the clock/timer unit doesn't work, I now must use another timepiece to keep up with how long the self-cleaning process is taking and turn it off myself rather than the oven doing it automatically.
If I activate the top self-cleaning switch (pull it out) and leave the bottom self cleaning switch alone (don't pull it out), I can self-clean the units. However, I must keep track of the amount of time it is working and turn it off myself.
I'm okay with self-cleaning the ovens this way (but prefer the original method), but I'd love to have the timer/clock working again for everyday use!
I called the GE company parts line yesterday and was told that for my unit I would need the WB19X5231 part that they no longer make. And from this forum, I read thatthe WB19X10006 corrected the clock/timer, but the bottom oven would no longer work in the self-cleaning mode. I think I understood that correctly. I tried to follow it on the forum. I hope that you may have a solution.
Thank you again! Deborah
