We have a 14 year old Rudd P40-7 gas hot water heater. Our gas bill is typically $60 which covers the hot water heater, a new gas range and an ancient gas dryer. The Rudd has a efficiency factor of 0.56 and I’m trying to determine if we should replace the heater prematurely to gain some energy efficiency.

Boston area, family of four, typical demand. Suggestions?
