My microwave started to make a louder normal groanning sound when I turned it on and it was not heating. The sound was sort of like an electric moter that is froozen but the motor is trying to turn on. After reading all the posts I tested the doide and it was good. I ended up replacing the magnetron and that took care of the problem. Is there a link on this forum that tell how to test a magnetron. I wont to thank everybody for all the posts on this forum, it has been very helpful.

The magnetron can be tested for continuity between each of the two terminals and the body of the magnetron. The normal reading should be ∞.
