Hi, new here. Not finding an answer to this, sorry if a dupe post.

My refrigerator went out a couple of days ago - not cooling. Since it was 12 years old, I went ahead and purchased a new one to solve the thawing/spoiling food problem. If I can get the old one working fairly easily, I wouldn't mind keeping it around in the basement or garage as a backup/overflow. So no urgency getting it fixed.

The compressor runs, and I've taken the panels off in the freezer compartment and the coils are indeed getting cold and frosting up. The evaporator fan just never blows so I'm not getting enough cold in the freezer and pretty much none in the fridge side.

My question is what could cause this, and how would I know how best to address it? The site has the evap fan for my model in stock and pretty cheap, should I go ahead and replace that before going any further? Any way to tell if it's good or not without going through that? What else might be to blame?

Tested the fan and it works fine. What are my other likely candidates and how would I know if they're doing their job?

That thermostat probably sends power to the motor, just replace it. Your schematic would confirm it.
