Microwave went dead a few days ago. Replaced fuse and it worked. But first time I opened door, fuse blew again. I tested the three microswitches and the top one is always shorted. What part number to I buy? Any tips on replacing the switch itself?

You're not supposed to open the door of a microwave oven while it is running. You may get by with it for a while, but as things wear, you will certainly get it when the switches are even the slightest bit out of synch, and the fuse will blow.

I opened it while it was off and the fuse blew. This is a well known, common problem and is indicative of a bad interlock switch. All I need to know is the part number of the top switch and some instructions, if possible, on how to replace it.

It's better to remove the microwave outer case to access the switches. There are two different part numbers for this switch: the original interlock switch Part number: AP2024331
