Please help, if you can!! As I indicated this unit is a portable and ±10 years old. Lately it has been leaving the dishes less than clean. Today I completely disassembled it in the kitchen looking for some blockage or cause for restriction of water flow because on the drain cycle the flow is reduced from what it used to be. Long story short, it appears to me that in the back of the tub behind a drain screen that covers the lower back of the tub - not the one that covers the inlet to the pump - there is a check valve assembly that screws into a sump that sits outside the tub just above the cinder block counterweights. The rubber flapper disc in this assembly appears very worn and is not covering the check opening as it should. The point of this question is why can I not find the model number listed anywhere. This unit was purchased at Home Depot in Canada, it says on the name tag that is was made in Canada by Camco. The interesting thing about the name plate tag is that it is not a silver metallic one, but rather a white plasticized one. serial number SG608435A. Can any one provide a part number or a parts breakdown for this specific dishwasher?? Thank you in advance for any information that helps me out!! D.

I would crunch into Google ( Canadian major appliance parts ) Get a site that has model # look up feature. To fix this, I would remove the pump cove inside the dishwasher and clean the pump screen, probably clogged up.

Richappy, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I had the pump assembly removed from the unit. The screen at the food grinder was clear. I did not disassemble the pump / motor as it appeared to be a sealed combination. I have googled the model number, that is how I found this site. Camco has a parts to user distribution system for major appliances in Canada but it does not list this particular model - strange since their nameplate is on it. Their only model number that comes close substitutes an N for the the K. Their suggestion was to call GE directly, but they only monday to friday hours. I will call GE, but I fear that this unit my have been a rebranded unit to fit a price point for a major distributor with no product support or this is an obsolete unit with no support. I will post what I find out. Thanks again D.

Here is a manual for older GE's yours may be close. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/dishwasher-repair/93984-confused-frustrated.htmlGE's overall are frustrating as they like to keep their tech info a secret. Cannot be very helpful as far as this specific unit but if you take a part to Camco and get a good counter person they may be able to match it just by sight. Also many parts have a part number stamped on them. Here is a parts breakdown for a GSC1200 many of the parts may be the same. Often just the timer and option switches are different. Escutcheon & door assembly replacement parts for General Electric GSC1200X01 Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.comI doubt the piston & nut (Item 564 in Section 2 of the parts) is your problem. This valve opens when the unit is washing so will have no effect if it does not seal correctly. A poor seal will be noticeable on pump out. It is supposed to seal so that all the water is pumped out the drain instead of back into the tub, so you would have more water left in the tub than is normal (usually a quarter inch or so above the tubs low point. One thing to note is never run the pump totally dry as it will burn up the seals, add a couple quarts of water before running the unit. I would check the water level. This will often cause poor wash results and you may hear a growling sound, the pump is sucking in air and is cavitating. They usually fill to just under the heating element. You could add a gallon or so of hot water after the fills, just be careful to not overfill it. If it then washes OK the most likely cause is a partially clogged filter screen on the input side of the water valve. Also your unit may have a small rubber flapper valve on the Spray Arm Hub (see page 1 on the manual). If this is shot water will shoot out here instead of being directed up to the spray arms. This will give you poor wash results. If the unit is draining a little while it washes it could be the rubber gasket/plug in the center of the wash/drain flapper valve is missing. Some units do not have this. Water can then get out the drain instead of it all being directed up to the spray arm. I can sympathize with your frustration at Canadian model number as I am also a Canuck. |

Hi Denman, Thanks for your info. The parts breakdown of your link is the closest I have seen to this point. I did have the inlet screen and the wash arm flapper out for inspection and all appeared good. I spent more time on the internet this morning and found the check valve part by GE. The disc on ours is nearly gone. I will check out the water level. We are on a well water supply so pressure and volume can be an issue. Is the water level operator adjustable or is it a timed event? Thanks again. D.

To update this situation. I ordered check valve and installed it. The dishwasher in now performing as it should. The part cost $11 and $13 to ship it to my door. Relatively painless repair. Thanks to the people who took the time to respond to my request for help. I will attempt to pay back the favour some time, some how. D.
