I am trying to replace the handle on my AMANA microwave. Can I just order a new handle or will i have to replace the entire door? How is the handle attached?

Hi Ben, You can replace just the handle. It's secured by the two screws from inside of the door. You have to remove the choke cover to access the screws. This video clip will help you to understand the choke cover removal. - The part number for the door handle (stainless steel) is AP176362 Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana microwave Model ACO1860ASGene.

I have removed the screws from the handle, but it still will not release from the door. Is there another latch or catch that has to be released? Gene, thanks for the video clip to Ben. I have removed the two screws (one top, one bottom) that hold the handle I am replacing, but the handle will not come loose from the door. The model number is the same as you indicated in your post: ACO1860AS. Thank you.
Jerry

Gene, thanks for the video clip to Ben re changing the handle on an Amana m-wave. I have removed the top and bottom screw of the handle, but it does not come loose from the door. The model number is the same as you listed in your post to Ben: ACO1860AS. Any help would be much appreciated. Jerry

Jerry, I do not see on the diagram anything else but the two screws holding the door handle. Try to post as many as possible pictures of the door with different views. It might help. Gene.

I was having the same problem removing the handle but after seeing here that there were only the two screws holding it on, I used a little more strength and a little leverage and the handle came off. It looks like there may have been a little adhesive used to hold it on, or may it was just built-up gunk.

I searchrd the threads about replacing the handle on my Amana microwave model AOC1860AS. The last post was in 2910 & seems that folks were having the same problem as I am. I remove the inner plastic trim & the two exposed screws, but the handle won't budge. The parts diagram shows only two screws(one top, one bottom), but there must be something else holding the handle on. Any ideas? Thanks, DickB

Hello DickB,
Try to use a bit more force as did bfdad (the post prior to yours).
Gene.
