Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 4/8/2008(UTC) Posts: 1		Our GE refrigerator is about 5 yrs old, everything works fine except once awhile, the water dispense tube freeze up & I have to blow hot water into the tube to unfreeze the water. But two weeks ago, after we came back from one week of vacation, there seemed not making ice. After I took out the ice tray & cleaned up, ice maker was making ice again. But it only dispenses crushed ice, not cubes. It looked like the solenoid was frozen & not lifting the front cover. When I cleaned the tray, I did manully push up the solenoid. But this time, I couldn't push up any more. Could the solenoid frozen? Or maybe bad & need to replaced? How can I check? What's the part number? Thanks.

Check the resistance across the solenoid terminals. It suppose to be about 40 Ohms. - The part number for the solenoid is AP2071947 Gene.

I have the same problem. the solenoid shows 35 ohms continuity. Any other suggestions?
