Hi everyone:

Our Frigidaire washing machine (model number Gltf1240as0) is about 5 years old and used to work just fine, but now the control knob that you use to select the wash cycle is now not functioning properly.

It's the type of knob that you "push in", then "turn" to select your wash, then "pull out" to start the cycle. Normally, when you push it in and turn and pull out, it advances as the cycle progresses. But now it will do whatever it is supposed to be doing at that part of the cycle, but it keeps going, I stop it by pushing out the knob. And push it in and move it manually to the next click. In other words the knob doesn’t automatically advance to the next level. I suspect that the know wore off. Any ideas how to make sure what the problem is and how to repair?

Our owner's manual does not have any info on how to replace the knob.
(This just in: knob definitely looks crooked as if it lodged out of its location. It needs to be taken out and inserted back in, maybe it's as simple as that but i can't figure out how to take it out)

Thank you.
