Sort of You have to find out what caused it to blow. Usually when you replace this fuse you also replace the hi-limit thermostat (they come in a kit) as that should have regulated the temperature and prevented the fuse from blowing. An exception would be the following: Check the heating coil. Unplug the unit and both wires to the coil. Check it with a meter, should be around 12 ohms. Then check from each side of the coil to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not the coil may have sagged or broken and is touching the case. This can cause it to run on high and the thermostats cannot regulate it.
If the above measures OK then other possible causes are: Dirty vent system. Bad seals in the unit (drum seals etc.) Dirty or loose blower wheel. Lint filter clogged up with fabric softener residue. Bad cycling thermostat
And probably some I have not thought of. |
